How did you find Haunting Ground?

Post by Cannibal on 2009-07-13, 23:46

Where and when did you first lay your eyes upon HG? Who told you about it? And what were your first impressions?

For me, I always noticed Daniella sets on the forums I used to go on but for some reason I thought she was a character from ROR. o_O I didn't realize she came from HG or that HG existed until a friend told me how much she enjoyed the game, even though she despises Fiona (she's known as Makoto140 on here XD). I started reading some topics and I realized how popular the game was with hardcore fans (and Sandera *_*) so I felt the need to buy it. And I did. 8D

My first impressions of the game where fantastic. I pretty much fell in love from the get go, besides a few problems here and there, and by the time Daniella's chapter was fully on the way I knew this was something special. I honestly doubt I'll ever find a game that was so interesting to me as an individual. It was bold, dark, emotional and the overall idea was intelligent. It's something I feel games these days have the tendency to lack. =/

    SO, how 'bout your experience?

I first seen the game back when it first came out.

I seen the cover in a ad and begged my mom if I could have it. She agreed and took my to the game store and we bought it :/ It's short but true XD

Ever since I played the game I was in love with it <3

Actually, I first layed eyes on the game when I saw some images of it on gamespot, and after that I started to look deeper into the game story. A short while after that, I saw things as forum sections with haunting ground, images (fanart) and graphic stuff. I just couldn't stand not playing it, so I bought it XD

My first impression was, "omg this game is awesome!! I love it! It's very perverted too!! YAY! Omg, Riccardo is hot" X'D I loved the game the first time I played it, it was and IS awesome! GAH! X3

I saw music videos that used footage from the game. The graphics were fantastic for a PS2 game and what I saw intrigued me. I looked up game footage later on and decided to try it out for myself.

Once I got it, I played the shit out of it.

I was on Amazon and wanted to buy horror games like clock tower 3 and it in the recommended buys section was haunting ground. I watch demos on youtube and wanted to play it badly. I ordered it along with the guide and fell in love with it and Daniella. <333

I first saw a preview/review ad thingie for it in a Game Informer magazine.

I cut it out and still have it. <3

    Maybe I should scan it!

I first saw it reviewed in a game magazine of my brothers and was interested in it. About a year after that though it had slipped my mind that I actually wanted it. So I was bored, so I started googling random things that came into my head and I was like "Haunting Ground? Is that real?" So it did. I was curious reading about it, how it was like Clock Tower 3 (which I loved!) but upgraded. I watched the first 20 or so minutes of the game on Hard Mode on Google videos and I was terrified! No joke Debi's chase music frightened the hell out of me. So for ages I looked about my Game shop but it was never there, so about a year and a half ago I bought a brand new copy of Amazon (after spending about 4 days convincing my dad to actually let me buy something) and I've loved it since then <3

You brave basterd D8 I am such a chicken when it comes to ordering stuff from the internet. I can just order things from sweden XD not from other countries. >_<'' gah!

The bad thing about haunting ground is that it has NO publication here in sweden. I mean, I have NEVER seen haunting ground in a magazine or anything like that DX It's sad really u_u

Anyways X3 I am glad that I bought HG, it's awesomeness to the max!~

I didn't even know it existed until my dad bought it for my mom, who loves horror games like I do. She's never played it, but after he got it for her, I borrowed it and I've been in love with it ever since. Good thing she let me keep it. XD

Speaking of mothers, once I was playing right before Daniella's boss fight and my mom was in the room. She got really freaked out and said something like "Why is she laughing like that? Make her stop!" XD

For me it was basically a mix of music/commercial videos on youtube, cosplay, and whatever pictures I looked up. After seeing all of that, I knew I had to have the game. So I bought the game online and played it once I received it.

In the end I was happy with the game. It offered something different and was fun when my brother watched me play. I still have to get all of the endings, but I will get to doing so eventually. I listen to the soundtrack a lot, it is one of my favorites. Also, before I even unlocked it, I was "obsessed" with the Texas cowgirl costume, haha. Thought it was so cool that I knew I had to cosplay it. I only finished the accessories and have the blonde wig, but soon enough I will finish it.

I cannot remember how I found Rule of Rose, but comparisons between the two games led me to Haunting Ground. I wanted them for a couple years, saw them both in the same game store , and bought them. They were cosmic eighteenth birthday presents. X)

Haunting Ground is the first non-mainstream horror title I picked up. I just happened to see the game in a store & after considering for a while, decided to pick it up. I'd never heard of it, but it seemed interesting and I thought the characters and environments all looked really pretty. The visuals in the game blew me away immediately; I was in love with the garden at the beginning of the game and rest of the game didn't disappoint either. I'm extremely glad I just happened to stumble upon it.

I-I actually think Haunting Ground was the first horror game I've played as well, I was pretty young at the time. After that, I got introduced to Resident Evil, Clock Tower and everything else horror. I opened up a whole new section of games for me to play.

When I got my PS2 as a Christmas gift a hundred years back, it came with ten random games, and Haunting Ground was among them x.x My father had bought it for himself, not for me, but I played it anyways and really loved it. Ever since then, I'm in love with Haunting Ground and really wish there were more games as this one here.

More or less... He kinda picks up a game to play today, plays as if it was the last thing he'd do in his life, than leaves it aside for like, ages. Then he 1) totally forgets about the game or 2) remembers he had played that game until a certain point and restarts playing it, which usually culminates in him leaving the game aside once again.

Most games he buys for himself eventually end up on my hands. Though Army Man Air Attack is too silly for my tastes, and Prince of Persia is too boring; my brother took those and finished them =_= He's given a shot to Haunting Ground once but... I don't really know what he thought about it.

Ah yes, Haunting Ground was my first Horror game too
